my thoughts...
aa me dearsi got an offer for english from kings!! am elated truly:D. and they didnt even ask for an interview! was all worried that i hadnt heard from them yet, and then i got an email today! alh alh. but u know, i still dunno if im defo going there, lol. dekha jak iA will figure it out if i get an offer from manchester. then methinks istikhara will be in order.
on another note, about the pictures printed in the danish paper. thought id give a brief 2p worth. frankly, YES very insulting pictures, but really the response is a gross overreaction. how will violence and anger work in our favour in any way? furthermore, how is it within the fold of islam to react with such anger at all? it is not helpful for our image as representatives of our deen, and therefore will do nothing for dawah. the most constructive form of criticism i believe, and which mA is being implemented in many muslim countries, is the boycott of danish goods. boycott always hits where it hurts, but without defaming our deen to non-muslims. and companies such as arla are already suffering huge losses, literally millions a day. but actions, such as burning flags and effigies of the danish president is going to win us no favours whatsoever, and we hold a volatile position on the international stage as it is. furthermore- big doubts as to whether the prophet(s) himself would have agreed with the way things are going. did he not prevent Jibraeel from crushing the city of taif after they had stoned him til he bled? and that was a physical attack on our beloved prophet(s).
my (very very) generalised view of the world at the moment is: the west acts with their mind and not their heart-using intelligence, facts figures, and all other forms of dehumanising yard sticks to justify and act (eg-iraq war) without getting emotionally involved enough to feel guilt at the suffering they cause, while the muslim world acts using its heart instead of its mind-acting upon their emotions without stopping to think of the possible consequences their actions may incur. not good. what we need is a balance, and we as muslims have the duty to set the example.
ok maybe that wasnt as brief as expected. may Allah guide us all and forgive us for our sins. and may he grant us wisdom and patience in these trying times.
ws love & duas
dazey xx

i suggest we all email the bbc & let them know we disagree wt the iranians also. two wrongs dont make a right, and it Completely ruins all our arguments against the Danish cartoons. stupid stupid ppl.
well done on ur kings offer!!! mashaAllah that's excellent. definitely wait for all ur answers, do istikhara and see. i think london's gonna b welcoming a whole bunch of mancunians nxt yr... inshaAllah... xXx
o, this is the bbc reply i got last time when i emailed abt them showing the cartoon on tv:
Thank you for your email concerning the BBC's coverage of the row over the cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad. We have received a very wide range of reaction to this and the BBC has given very careful consideration to the issues it raises.
The reporting of this news raised a number of editorial dilemmas for BBC coverage on both television and our website. In response, Peter Horrocks, Editor of TV News and Steve Herrmann, Editor of BBC News Interactive have explained in detail how the BBC has approached the reporting of this issue. The BBC's Controller of Editorial Policy, David Jordan, has also responded to the reaction.
We have published their responses in full and you can read them on the BBC 'NewsWatch website', which you can find at:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/newswatch/ukfs/hi/
Thank you for contacting us with your views on this matter.
Yours sincerely

ah yes perhaps we should. two wrongs certainly don't make a right.

Salaam.
Congratulations on your offer to King's, Ma Sha Allah.
I'm not sure being "amused" at the Iranian piece of news is at all in order, for two major reasons. One, a stalemate's already in place with Hamas and Israel. As far as I can tell, Israel didn't have a hand in the printing of the Danish cartoons, and it's plain ludicrous to incite them now. If the Palestinians ain't seeing the worst of Israel, well, it seems as though they soon will be - if Iran can help it. Two, the US has not ruled out military action against Iran. I make du'a that I am wrong when I say that the US will only treat any spiteful cartoon highlighting its relations with Israel as a catalyst.
We Muslims (I can almost generalize to this level given what we've shown in the past two weeks, may Allah forgive us all) are simply rash and myopic. It took generations of Muslim da'ees in the UK and US to foster friendly relations with the inhabitants. It took a 9/11 to deplete the nurtured trust drastically, and a 7/7 to send it plummeting further. Whether we can ever again go back to the respect we Muslims commanded pre-9/11 is very doubtful.
Pink suggests an excellent idea. Please let us try and do our very best to project the right image of Islam. Allah is the wali of the believers. May Allah set our nation on the Right Path.
yes i do agree with you, and im extremely worried about the effect the reaction of the muslim world is going to have on us. even those who may have sympathised will hardly be able to sympathise with us now.
amusing i found their attitude to the west and their independence-not the action in itself which will certainly do nothing to help any muslim, palestinian, iranian or otherwise. and as pink said, two wrongs dont make a right, and this is certainly a big wrong on the iranians part.
am editing.

someone anonymous is stalking all our blogs! :o
anyway no biggie... its jst odd. dazey, what time will u be heading to lowry on sun? i txtd u but alas no reply... i have to head there at 11am, i wanna hitch a ride...
Ah yes, happy on your behalf I am for your offer to kings col but I rather worry that I will be all alone in mcr next yr!! If everyone is leaving mcr, how will I convince the guardians of all the good and decent company I'll find there?? lol, I am just joking - istikhara IS the only way forward. And since I am evidently inclined to make light of matters, may I add that while two wrongs do not make a right, three lefts do apparently!!
