'i got the baton!' as pink put it;)

Word: Circular dichroism-n. the differential absorption of left and right hand circularly polarized light. It is a form of spectroscopy used to determine the optical isomerism and secondary structure of molecules.
MOD: Don't ask. and the whole idea of it being a noun was a pure guess too...

aa lasagnes!

yes me and pink have been making scrumptious lasagne! or more to the point, pink has been making it while i watched her in my usual useless fashion:). well actually i DID do the washing and i DID grate the cheese. but really, needed a shower so she'd done most of it by the time i came back. anyways, refer to bb for backing on the yumminess.

anyways, thought i'd blog on the christmas season, but, as la title suggests, pink has 'passed the baton' so im actually going to do one of them questionaire thingys. (im so proud of me!) so enjoy:

10 years ago: Had left the utopian life of london to enter into the flea-bitten (or mosquito bitten) world of bingolia. Should have seen it as an omen:P. life has never been the same since. But alh ala kulli haal and we couldn’t live in the pure utopian world of childhood forever!

5 years ago: Came back to the mancunian world of greyness and rain after spending 4 fruitless years in the sunny mid east. Totally enjoyed the mid east years, but daaarn such a waste of time. Began la gcse’s and the slow but steady descent to being an established procrastinator (blogging being the ultimate example-shud be doing bio).

Middle School: honestly pink, lived in the americanised arab world and you don’t know wat this is?! That yr 6-8 type time (unless us brits have a different definition). Anyways, dunno what to write about this except that I gave the poor teachers hell, I was such a class clown-shall spend the rest of my life lamenting my evil actions.

5 bands & Artists: Shaykh abu bakr ash shatri (YES he IS an artist!), Meshary al arada, muhammad al husyan, outlandish, saifullah mansur

5 Things I'd do with £100,000,000: O daaarn this’ll take time. K I’ll list some
A million to each member of my immediate family (parents siblings, chachus, khalas n mamas). Actually nus gets 2m cuz shes my baby and that makes ALL the difference.
50m to split between charities and islamic work (scholarship and general movement-ife ymo muslimaat among others). And yes, some of that will definately go to sorting out the blummin manchester muslim centre and turning it into a proper youthg centre n mosque like it should be!
5 million towards muslim media-vague unformed ideas of a muslim journalism society…publishing house…etc-working on it:)
3 million towards my revolutionary ibn batutta trip (involving study with scholars and charity work around the world) to fund travel and living with la buddies (pink, nas-u can leave your hubby behind I dont care, azmis, md…)
2 million to la buddies to aid in funding theire various plans (esp la blogger buddies)
and here ive lost interest…truth be told-id probs be at a TOTAL loss what to do with it all if I ever do get it.

5 Places I would run away to: the haram in makkah, the haram in medina, bingolia (be with my belooooooved khalamunis-siigh), pink’s joint, myf-the single place which helped me most in overcoming last yrs difficulties (after pinks beautiful abode-a place which continues til this day-Allah bless la pink household;)),

5 things I like doing: reading, sketching, being with my close friends, blogging (honest!), taking part in islamic events and projects. To sum up: anything that does not require revision!

5 things I will never wear: all black, hair dye (I hope!-like the locks the way they are alh), braces (never have never will ALHAMDULILLAH), the scally look as a whole (asian or otherwise), anything that doesn’t include my hijab (outside of home ofcourse;))-btw pink, makes me wonder that YOU wud never wear a lungi, I mean If theyd asked me wat my husband will never wear then I’d agree…but I doubt I’D ever consider wearing the guy skirt!!

5 Movies I like: The last samurai, Lord of the Rings trilogy (yes that counts as one option:D), Pirates of the Caribbean, Gladiator, wallace and gromit curse of the were-rabbit (so funny!)

5 People I'd like to meet: The Blessed Prophet (as), fatima (ra), yusuf (as)-gotta agree with u there pink!, robert fisk, my mother (rahimahullah) in heaven iA.

5 biggest joys at the moment: being part of the truth of Islam & the islamic movement, being blessed with a wonderful family, being blessed with great friends (luv ya’ll:D), a good home and good education (despite the grief it afflicts me with)

OMG u wont believe how long that took me. and notice that i have now taken to spelling (more) properly. tis practice no?;)

ws luv n duas

Oh NOOO! The baton has been passed to me :S
... it feels like sacrilege to let it drop, so I shall try my best.
Actually- this has the makings of a good post.
And life, at the moment is event-less, so may as well dwell on the past.

no there is! ive seen em!! really!!!

but aaah yes i see what u mean about fabric braces-thank God i dnt really recall being subjected to them either. methinks we either used belts, or used the good ol' safety pin-a practice which continues to this day.
