peace and greetings my dear bloggership!

today i was (mastering the art of procrastination) attempting to sort out the ol' domestic skills (or lack of) and was listening to anwar aulaqi's 'the lives of the prophets', which bb got as a wedding gift. actually here id like to mention that THAT, children, is a wedding gift. really, its the best kind of gift you could give someone, a cd set of talks or tapes or books etc. i think i shall start on a wedding list (never too early to start;)).

anyways, to get back to the topic at hand, was listening to the story of prophet yusuf aka joseph (as). subhanAllah people i really recommend you study that story, its amazing. trust me, i thought i knew it, but what i knew was a superficial children's story. prophet yusuf's life is an example of pure patience and wisdom in the face of difficulty, where someone who was reduced to slavery and imprisonment was raised to one of the highest positions of authority and power in the most powerful land of the time (egypt), due to his patience and wisdom during extremely long stretches of difficulty. the story is very long or i'd repeat it, so please people go study it. something i discovered when listening to the story was that the surah Yusuf was revealed to the prophet muhammad (as) during the year of sorrow in makkah when he had lost khadija and abu talib. so Allah was attempting to alleviate the prophet's (s) pain and teach him endurance by exemplifying the fruit of patience in prophet yusuf's tale. also when prophet yusuf finally reached the peak in his success (wealth, status, union with family, etc) he prayed to Allah that he may die a believer and be united with the righteous in the hereafter, reflecting on his utter detachment from the material wealth of the dunya, despite his position. really, it made me think had i reached his position would i have done the same?

really must study the lives of the prophets and companions more.

anyways, shall be off. iA more tomorrow. o n people please pray for me, am expecting jan results soon and have mocks next week which i Don't Know how i'm gona pass. actually i do-thru prayer and divine miracle:S.
